Job Envy - Jenna Zillincar

Job Envy is a new series in which I interview interesting folks who have better jobs than mine. First up, Jenna Zillincar. Part owner of M Studios, Jenna lives in Asbury Park New Jersey which, for those of you not in the know, is like hipster central in NJ.

We went to art school together...I moved to L.A., you moved to New Jersey, what happened next? What did you do after art school?

After school I worked at a small design firm in Asbury Park NJ. I was the human sponge/ junior designer. I soaked everything in that I could on how to operate a small design firm. I explored through design and put together public design events like a fashion show and an AP postcard redesign art-show at one of the local galleries. After about two years I felt that I was not growing the way I wanted too... I hit a wall. After I left Knockout my sister-in-law and I started our own design studio called M studio.

What kind of work do you do at M Studios?

I like to call M studios the branding gurus. We love to take new and existing businesses to the next level through effective branding solutions. We start by getting to know the client. Then we move onto designing an amazing logo. From the logo we usually determine the color pallet and font that will go along with the branding system. We then create supporting materials which can consist of menus, websites, business cards, etc. We also even go as far as
creating the look and feel of the clients location. Most of our clients stay with us needing things along the way like a cool t-shirt design or a radical sign for the outside of their office or even a new menu for the restaurant.

You also design furniture, right?

Yes, I also design in the 3D. We have the privilege to work with one of the top steel manufacturing companies in the US, Metaline Displays. They design and manufacture P.O.P displays. We partnered with them to create one of a kind industrial steel furniture. We've also partnered up with them to create MOBOS...modular storage with a twist. MOBOS has grown over the last two years and has become a must have for your storage needs. I help with designing the product line as well as the graphic work for the product.

Look for part two of the interview soon....
