Fresh Guacamole with Garlic and Oregano

guacamole

Mexican Classic

Guacamole is a classic Mexican dip that is also super easy to make. The surprising ingredient in this recipe is dried oregano! It really makes a difference! I served the guacamole as a snack during my birthday bbq in palm springs and it was gone in a second!

Ingredients

5 ripe hass avocados
1/2 cup chopped cilantro
1/3 cup chopped white onion
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 jalapeno pepper, finely chopped (if you want it less spicy, take the seeds out before chopping)
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Juice of 1 lime
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt (more or less to taste)

Directions

Carefully peel avocados and place in a large bowl. Immediately pour lime juice over avocado to prevent it from browning. Add remaining ingredients and with a fork mash avocado to desired consistency. I like my guacamole on the chunky side, but mash away if you like it smooth. Enjoy with an ice cold MARGARITA!
